More Info

Charles Gale b 1816 in Devon married Emma Helstone in Tavistock in 1839.
He must have shortly moved to Ledbury as his first daughter, Emma, was born here in the March quarter 1840. A Supervisor of Inland Revenue his duties kept him on the move, his next child, a son Thomas Helstone, was born in Dudley. They also had:
John in 1844 in Chelsea.
Charles in 1848 in Chelsea.
Mary in 1850 in Horncastle.

John Walters, Baptist Minister, a widower in 1851 was born in 1805 in Kington Herefordshire. I cannot find a marriage for him but his daughter, Eliza, living with him in 1851 was born in 1827 in Kington to John and Patience Waters. She had a sister Patience born in 1830 also in Kington.Nothing else found.

In No 41 in 1851 Benjamin moved here probably so that Francis, William's son could be next to his father in No 40.

James Roberts was born in Eynsham in 1853. The only occupant, the ' Relationship to Head of Household' entry states Brother in law
Brother in Law presumably to the Head of Household who was absent at the time.

Thomas Murtagh b Ireland in 1816 married Elizabeth from Stretton b 1819.
I cannot find out anything more about them but Thomas is still in the Southend in 1887 (from Electoral Registers). Perhaps they came from and returned to Ireland!

Hester Cowmeadow moved from No 41 to No 42 between 1881 and 1891. For more see No 41. .

William Augustus Parker born 1871 in Tewkesbury married Ada Mason of Ledbury in Ledbury on June 3rd 1899.

Mary Ann died in Mar Qtr1907 and Walter remarried Elizabeth Georgina Haynes in Worcester in Dec Qtr 1907. (In the 1911 census they have an Alice born in Worcester 1907 but I can find no record of such a birth.)
